The South Pilgrim Circuit traces one of India's most spiritually charged coastal routes — from Madurai, the ancient temple city of the Goddess Meenakshi, to Rameshwaram, the sacred island where Lord Ram himself is said to have prayed to Shiva before crossing into Lanka. Together, these sites hold the essence of Shakti and Bhakti.
Our 5-day journey begins at the magnificent Meenakshi Amman Temple, a towering Dravidian masterpiece with 14 gopurams and over 33,000 sculptures. From there, the route crosses into the Gulf of Mannar toward Rameshwaram island, home to the Ramanathaswamy Temple — one of the twelve Jyotirlingas — with its legendary 1,212-metre corridor, the longest of any temple in the world.
This circuit is ideal for pilgrims seeking the warmth of South Indian devotion, the fragrance of jasmine and camphor, the sound of Carnatic devotional music, and the profound peace of temples that have been in continuous worship for over a thousand years.
